The marketing and development team at Pacific Hospitality Group approached us to name and brand a restaurant concept at The Bacara Resort in Santa Barbara. Several names and concepts were presented to play on the theme of duality. We wanted to connect with the chef’s vision for classic technique with modern execution.
A huge part of our process for creating this concept revolved around writing intriguing copy and finding the right visuals to set a unique mood. We focused some of our early efforts on exploring visual language through mood boarding and copywriting.
Our design thinking and writing was able to inspire menu items, the mood, and materials. The construction and interior design was completed by Hatch. Afterwards, we commissioned an onsite photo shoot with Marshall Williams and his team.
Our developers and designers used a simple and straightforward approach to execute the website for Angel Oak. We captured great imagery and wanted to showcase it by letting the photos lead the charge. We also helped the Bacara marketing team by developing copy throughout the website.
“The concept launched very successfully, and the restaurant design and development just gave us one of the top awards for the year — best restaurant design for form, function, and innovation. Being recognized in that way was really great. We would not have been able to accomplish that without having such a harmonious relationship between the brand, the design, and the operations.”
